Case Study: The Picturehouse Cinema, Fulham Road
Inside Out Contracts worked with us to fit out south west London’s chicest cinema, with our Tones, Cashmir, and Libra fabrics taking centre stage
The Picturehouse Cinema on Fulham Road is something of a community hub for the residents of south west London. An Art Deco architectural gem on the corner of Fulham Road and Beaufort Street, the cinema benefits from being one of the flagship cinemas in the Picturehouse Group, which screens an eclectic mix of box office hits and arthouse indie films alike.
The space was redesigned and redeveloped last year. in a project led by Earle Architects, who engaged Inside Out Contracts, one of our long-standing contract furniture customers, to fit out the cinema’s bar, lounge and cosy banquette seating areas – contemporising the space while referencing its glamorous 1930s period glamour.
Inside Out used three Agua ranges extensively throughout the space in a range of deep blues and rich greens. Tones appears in Petrol, Sapphire and Forest; Cashmir in Sand; and Libra in Garnet, Midnight, Navy and Teal. Each fabric is richly textured with luxurious finishes that contribute to the plush ‘roaring ‘20s’ feel the project called for. Tones is a soft melange twill that mimics a woollen fabric, Cashmir mirrors a smooth cashmere flannel range, while Libra offers a high-performing alternative to velvet.
Reflecting on the project, Inside Out’s Georgina Fleming says: “working with Agua is always a pleasure and they are one of our go-to fabric suppliers. While the varied product range complements the aesthetic of many design schemes, the advanced technical specifications meet the demands of contract environments, meaning they’re regularly specified by both our team and clients.
“The Agua sales team are always on hand to help with samples and recommendations which is why we even feature a number of their collections within our fabric range shortlist.”
